Über den Wein Gigondas La Colline 2015

Der La Colline ist Julien's Meisterstück. Er wird erst seit 2013 separat abgefüllt. 100% Grenache, aus alten Reben auf Kalksteinmergel in großer Höhe und in exponierter Lage. Coming from a small corner parcel of the La Colline vineyard, the utterly sensational 2015 Gigondas La Colline is primarily Grenache that includes a touch of whole clusters and is still aging in one- to three-year-old demi-muids. It possesses a huge nose of black raspberries, blackcurrants, toasted spice and garrigue in a stacked, full-bodied, concentrated, yet weightless style. It’s certainly up with the top handful of wines in the vintage and should not be missed!

Readers wanting to get a hold of the best of the 2015 vintage need to latch onto these wines from Domaine des Bosquets. This estate has been brought up to the pinnacle of Gigondas, and the Southern Rhône, by the talent and drive of the Brechet family, namely the young Julien Brechet, and consultant Philippe Cambie. Covering roughly 26 hectares, the estate produces three Gigondas cuvees: a traditional cuvee, La Colline and the Le Lieu Dit. Their traditional cuvee is a normal blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the rest Mourvèdre and Cinsault, from all the estate parcels, and it’s aged in concrete tanks and older barrels. The two special cuvees include the La Colline and the Le Lieu Dit, and these are individual, singular wines. The most elegant, fine and ethereal (the Rayas of Gigondas?) is the Le Lieu Dit and this cuvee comes from a sandy parcel of old vines planted just beside the estate. It’s primarily Grenache and aged all in 228- and 600-liter barrels. A deeper, richer, more blockbuster-styled wine, the La Colline comes from a tiny portion of the La Colline vineyard (which is a larger parcel of rocky limestone soils) and is 100% Grenache that’s aged in new and once used 600-liter barrels.
